Saving Serious Cash with Software, pt.5: Picture Shark

At times, it is necessary to produce an image for a client or publish copyrighted information on the internet, print, etc. In almost every case, we take the risk that the content might be used illegally.

In my particular case, I had to produce an image of a relational data model for a client and it was a work in progress, or draft. That's when I found Picture Shark.
Picture Shark is free software that enables somebody to place a watermark their images. Output watermarked images include bmp, jpg and png formats. You may also convert a directory of images to an output directory containing their final watermark format.

Using Picture Shark is relatively easy, since it asks to provide the watermark file. If you don't have one, Here's a "draft" watermark image for your convenience, free of charge :)

The way it works, is you select your watermark file and set a position for it on the document or image you'd like to protect. It will be extremely difficult for anyone to remove the watermark, especially in an image.

Examples of watermarked images are below:

Although the software is pretty straight forward, it lacks the common elements of an everyday Windows application. There is no menu, and the application launches directly without any tips.

So it took me a few minutes to discover how to use it, but nothing complex here. You can also set transparency levels.

What this software lacks in usability, it gains in performance and speed. The application takes virtually no time to load up, and is very efficient in producing the final output across multiple files.

All in all, this is a quick and easy solution to what would be $25.00 starting price alternative.

Cool, I have several things I have not released because I could not afford the software to Watermark.

I just downloaded it and will let you know what I think.
